About Me

I am a trained writer, researcher, and cultural historian. I completed undergraduate studies in history and anthropology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and received a master’s in Public History from North Carolina State University and a doctorate in American Studies from the College of William & Mary.

I’ve taught college courses in American Studies, Women’s and Gender Studies, and Sociology. I’ve also worked as a Jill of all trades in humanities nonprofits. I pursued graduate school out of a love of material culture studies (okay, antiques). My mom expected me to become an appraiser at Sotheby’s; instead, I work in the tech industry.

I am a North Carolinian living on the coast of Maine, where I’m often found being walked by a stubborn Shar-Pei mix. My mantra remains: be happy, be useful, be kind.
